What's New: Camtec January 2018 Update

2017 was a year for the books.

Among the award-winning commercials with so many wonderful clients, the Camtec team was excited to support more features and TV shows than ever before. Some standout projects include Ad Astra (D.P. Hoyte Van Hoytema FSF, ASC, NSC), A Star Is Born (D.P. Matthew Libatique ASC), and Mindhunter (D.P. Chris Probst/Eric Messerschmidt).

Behind the scenes, the Camtec team has been working tirelessly to innovate and supply our clients with custom gear. Our lens team worked closely with Hoyte Van Hoytema to develop a new set of Master Primes to add to the bespoke Camtec lens collection, dubbed the "Astra" Master Primes. In addition to the Astra Primes, the crew in the lens department have a few very special projects in the works that they are excited to share with you soon.

Not to be outdone, digital technician Tim Jensen kept par with the lens techs last year by developing the Camtec Color-Con 4x5/6x6. This lightweight tool uses led lights to enable the operator to fine tune contrast and hue on the go. With the all new wireless set-up, the Camtec Color-Con gives the option of full DMX control.

In order to best serve our clients in the ever changing film industry, Camtec was thrilled to open a new facility in Atlanta, GA in hopes of expanding the reach and culture of our client-first business philosophy. As our boutique business grows look for big things to come from our very first satellite location.

With 2017 over and done, and nearly a month in 2018, it's all systems go at Camtec. Keeping the momentum from last year, the Camtec team is delighted to be supporting Venom (D.P. Matthew Libatique ASC), First Man (D.P. Linus Sandgren FSF, ASC), and Narcos - Season 4 (D.P. Luis Sansans) which are all in production now. Expect more news from these exciting projects.

The challenge of servicing large projects in addition to our regular commercial clients is what drives Camtec's growth and innovation and we couldn't do without either. We are so grateful to all of our amazing clients for making this business such a joy, and we look forward to pushing the boundaries with all of you this year!
